Smoothies

Ok, I’m not a big fan of smoothies but I ran out of my organic wheat chex this morning. I think it’s from the body building protein shakes I used to drink with a shot or scoop of creatine when I was doing some weight lifting that has turned me off to regular smoothies in the morning. Who was I kidding, but I actually started to develop some nice guns for an old dude.

This is Barb’s smoothy recipe which she has almost every morning and it is good for you  and I have to admit, it does taste really good.

  • 1 Banana frozen
  • 1.5 C of spinach or a handful
  • 1 C of almond, coconut, soy, rice or skim milk
  • 2 TBS Protein powder
  • while you are there, check out all of the gourmet foods you can get, delivered right to your coach or campground from Amazon.
  • 1/2 Tsp of cinnamon

Blend it all together in a blender. But seriously, if you are going to be a smoothie aficionado, there is only one blender to get, which we have on our RV counter – the NutriBullet. A blender just doesn’t compare. I use it to emulsify dressings and I think it would make a nice nut chopper and it might grind coffee in a pinch but I haven’t tried.

If you’re making home made baby food out here on the road, like I used to do for our first child Dave, this would be awesome. It was jars when Nina came along and Kate, well I’m not sure how she survived. Now I’m back to making homemade food for our Boston terrier Lola and I get why the kids are jealous. I love you guys too!
